We will wake up around 5:00 am, we will get a tea or coffee to get some energy and we will take our boat up the Tambopata river for 1 hour, crossing the check point. We will have all the sunrise just for us in the boat, and we will have really good chances to spot capybaras (the largest rodent worldwide), tapir, and you could even see the most beautiful feline in South America – “The Jaguar”. Many of our clients are witnesses with photographic evidence of encounters with this beautiful mammal. I like to say it, we have a 20% of probabilities to see one of these guys by the river bank. Getting to our destination, The Tambopata clay lick, we will take a seat as close as we are allowed and we will get a show at the clay lick: parrots and macaws – green, red, blue and yellow birds all around us, flying and making loud noises. It will be spectacular – this behavior of the birds. We will explain the reason why every day the whole year around these birds go to the cliff to eat clay. We will spend from 6:30 am to 11:00 am approx. Our breakfast will be in front of the Tambopata clay lick activity. At the end of this activity, we will come back to our lodge to get an unforgettable swimming in the stream or maybe in the Tambopata River. We will get our lunch and then we´re going to repack to come back to Puerto Maldonado to go after that to Sandoval Lake. We´re going to go down river Madre de Dios until Sandoval Lake port. From here the trail takes you on a 2 miles (3 kilometers) walk through secondary forest, until we reach a small canal where we board canoes and we´ll go across half the lake to the lodge. We leave after dinner, we´ll go to make a short night walk through primary forest.
